It has come. After one the best Olympics in human history, Glen Sather will make another pathetic attempt to push us into the playoffs by trading away draft picks for under performing snipers and an aging defense-man. Many have chattered about the Rangers having and interest in Souray. If Sather was able to obtain this aging veteran, it would surely cost us some future capital. Souray is illogical not only for that reason but also because he is currently injured and may not return until April. How does that help our playoff push? If Sather is going to make a move, he should base it around obtaining a proven sniper such as Horton or Booth. But deep down inside we know that isn't going to happen. We will see by 3 pm est tomorrow. As of now the Ranger are set to play the Ottawa Senators tonight at 7:30. With about a fourth of our team returning from the Olympic, I expect a hungry squad that is capable of crushing the recently surging Senators. I also expect Torterella to take what he learned in the olympics and relieve Chris Drury of his top six responsibilities. Lets hope that the Rangers continue their pre-olympic streak and make a legitimate push for the playoffs. It they don't turn it around within the next 5 games, its time to start rooting for them to tank and obtain some top draft picks.

A Royal Victory.

On Saturday, fans walked out of MSG with a smile of relief. What us blue-shirt faithful witnessed was one of the best performances by Henrik Lundqvist this season. Before I go into the game, I would like to explain what makes a goaltender truly great. It is not his strength or acrobatics, but his ability to adapt. For two seasons people have been criticizing the King's glove side but as of this season he has shown that he does not ignore his problems. As seen on Saturday, our Regal guardian of MSG proves the fans, the media, and Ken Daneyko wrong. Almost every key save was made with a flashing of the King's leather, one of them on the all-mighty Kovalchuk (who was held scoreless in the game). This isn't just a one game fluke. Henrik has grown throughout the season and shown he can adapt.
During the Game we saw Gaborik score on the powerplay from a great setup started by Del Zotto. The Rangers actually went up 3-0 off goals from Callahan and "dare we say his name" Chris Drury. The team showed resilience although they were out shot significantly. Avery seemed to get under Kovalchuk's skin towards the end of the game which resulted in Kovalchuck gloving him in the face while he was being dragged back by another Devil. Props to Avery for using a good strategy late in the game that put a key player in the box during a desperate time for the Devils offense.
Overall, it wasn't the prettiest game played by the Rangers but Lundqvist got the job done. He saved over 40 shots once again and robbed several Devils with his supposedly weak glove hand. Callahan is becoming a true Ranger as well. He never takes a night off and shows that he honors the jersey he wears unlike half the Ranger squad. Hopefully this effort will rub off on Wednesday when the Rangers face the Predators at MSG. Along with the game coverage, I will also be making a special post on Souray as a possible addition to the Rangers and what Ken Daneyko had to say about their past experience playing together. As always, Lets Go Rangers! oh and FIRE SATHER!!!!!

The Start of Something New
One does not become a Ranger fan without suffering. Many of us learn to channel our frustration through numerous activities whether it be drinking, burning your Rosival jersey or playing NHL 10 and turning the advantage all the way to your side. I choose writing. I have been reading hockey blogs for many years and have finally decided to start my own. Being a fan of the Rangers is like being married to an abusive spouse. They constantly leave you feeling beaten down and unfulfilled but every season you come crawling back only for the cycle to begin again. I think that its time for this to change. More and more of these blog sights have been hitting the web and more and more Rangers fans are speaking up. Currently there is a Fire Glen Sather rally in the works that I encourage every sane Ranger fan to attend if possible. My main goal with this blog is to continue this trend of Anti-mediocrity(Anti-Sather) while also sharing my thoughts on the games. My first game coverage will be posted after we face the Devils on Saturday. From there on out I will be constantly updating my blog with rumors, articles, and the occasional joke. See you all after the game.
